3-4
Day Spiritual Retreats
Overnight retreats are usually held in Sea Isle City, NJ
at the Sisters of Mercy Retreat House lasting three to four
days. During all retreat events, the journey to spiritual
awareness is tended to through the five senses: artwork
from all faiths for the eyes, music for the ears, good food
for taste, candles and aromatherapy for smell, and massage
and reiki for touch. Retreats are held several times
a year for such groups as People Living with AIDS, and Caregivers
in the HIV/AIDS community. |

Organizational
Staff Retreats
Retreats focus on the spiritual needs of professional and
non-professional caregivers who provide services to the
HIV/AIDS community. Time is designed to allow for
replenishment, reflection and relaxation. This interfaith,
holistic experience takes place in an open, safe environment
and encompasses discussion, reflection, quiet time, and
small group spiritual sharing. Participants share
how the spirit is operative in them and in the workplace.
Response to this program has grown dramatically in recent
years as the need for spiritual revitalization, which has
largely been overlooked or not addressed in the past, is
recognized and sought. |

Because
We Love Them
SILOAM offers families living with HIV/AIDS the opportunity
to explore how spirituality can be a strong support, as
well as provide peace and consolation as they struggle to
make healthy decisions for themselves and their children.
This is done through a series of workgroups and/or retreats
that provide an arena for parents to discuss such issues
as disclosure, hopes and dreams for your children, loss,
feelings and needs, and living with the virus as a "family".
Decisions made within the family are highly honored and
the confidentiality of the family is respected. A
trained and caring staff provides support for both child
and parent. |

|
Living
Wellness Series
A series of four consecutive weekly presentations on topics
pertaining to those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.
These interactive gatherings enable people to better engage
their spirituality to manage the virus and to address their
overall wellness.
